About

Cuileann McKenzie is a Writer, Speaker, and Educator. She loves all three of these ways to connect with people and believes they are linked. As a foundation for her pursuits, Cuileann has a Bachelor of Arts degree (with a Rhetoric and Professional Writing Major and Speech Communication Minor) and a Bachelor of Education degree.

Writer

Cuileann has written a literary novel, Consumption, and is currently seeking an agent. She also has poetry that she is keeping to herself for now. Previously, she worked as a Newsletter Editor for a large company.

Speaker

From the time she was in elementary school, Cuileann has loved speaking to audiences. Over the last couple of years, she has written and delivered Affirmations of Faith and Sermons at two churches in Austin, Texas.

Most recently, Cuileann spoke to an audience of 300 delegates at the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association Conference in Ottawa, Ontario. Her speech was titled, “The Importance of Differential Diagnosis: An M.S. Patient’s Perspective.” While having Multiple Sclerosis, Cuileann nurtures and shares a positive attitude.

Cuileann speaks with a warm and engaging style, and her talks have been called inspiring.

Educator

Cuileann has been an Educator at a wide range of levels and locations. She worked as a Special Education Needs teacher in an inner-city high school in London, England; was a Workshop Facilitator in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut (in Canada’s North); and helped students individually as a Writing Centre Supervisor at a college in Toronto, Ontario. Over the years, her students have ranged from seven-year-olds to seniors and have included people with learning disabilities, physical challenges and English as a Second Language.

You’re great for keeping me on my toes (much appreciated!) Thanks, too, for the compliment — I’m glad you liked it!
